Get to Know Us
Mino Kitchen is the brain-child of Aaction Director, Emma. A true foodie and a lone parent, she understands the challenges of providing an interesting, yet healthy diet on a limited budget.
The initial idea for Mino Kitchen was to bring together families that are assessed as ‘at risk’’ to participate in a six-week programme focused on developing the skills of cooking well, using local resources and understanding how to shop well at low cost. Families are provided with the support to work together to develop their own versions of basic recipes they can prepare together, to encourage communication and joint learning. At the end of the programme, the families can invite a professional for the final meal in a Masterchef’ style event. The kitchen has registered social workers when operational, who observe and provide a progress report at the end of the programme.
All participants in the kitchen programmes are invited to an annual picnic, to celebrate their achievements and see the dance school in Aaction!
